How do I make Git ignore file mode (chmod) changes?

Problem:

If you’re using Unix based operating system and you execute chmod command to change file permissions of a folder that contains files tracked by GIT, GIT will report that as the files being changed and most of the times, that is unwanted behaviour.

Solution:

run git config core.fileMode false that will configure your git installation to ignore chmod changes.
